Quansheng UV-R50 Keypad Programming

Correction: I said the model incorrectly – it is the UV-R50.

Enter the repeater frequencies, offset and CTCSS codes into memory easily from the keypad – no programming software or cable needed. This is an inexpensive, quality handheld transceiver for Amateur Radio. Perfect for a first radio to get on the air!

For each step, press the Menu key, the function number, press Menu key again to change the value then Menu a third time to save the setting.
Menu 7 – TDR off (dual monitor)
Menu 28 – Clear Channel
Menu 13 – Select CTCS Code
Menu 25 – Transmit Shift +/-
Menu 26 – Offset 0.600 for VHF, 5.00 for UHF
Menu 27 – Store Memory

  1. Great video, thanks. I followed the steps as you described but as soon as I go back to memory mode it had forgotten the shift frequency. Still worked in frequency mode but not in memory for some reason. So I deleted the channel, then saved it once more and this time it stuck. This video beats ploughing through the manual.

  2. hi i am really confuse with this radio
i have two different radio rt 22 to uv-r50 , wanted to program in such a way that UV R 50 can communicate with RT22
    is it possible ?

  3. Thanks for the video. I just received my Quansheng UV-R50 a couple of days ago. I tried to follow your video and procedure to setup for listening to my local repeater. However, when I enter the frequency of 145.270, the voice annunciation repeats the "zero" but the frequency display shows a "5". On another repeater frequency of 146.910 the frequency display shows 146.912. Clearly I must be doing something wrong. I'm headed for the Technician license exam on Sept 8.
